Sports Hall of Fame
    Carney’s Point Racing Champion Fran Coneeny pictured here in one of the many boats in the various class’ that he has owned and or operated over a span of more than thirty years. Beginning as a Riding Mechanic with driver Jimmy Davis in the Delaware River yachtsmans League, then moving on to repeatedly win the Region 3 High Point Championship.
     Notably among his many Trophies, Fran was runner-up in 48 cu.in. Hydro in the 1960 National and National Champ in the 1980 7. litre. He set a World Record in St Petersburg Fla. in 1962 while driving a 145 cu.in. Hydro owned by Bob Tuttle of Long Island, NY. (This record stood for 4 years.) Later in 1980 he received the “Mike Thomas Sportsmanship Award”.
    A graduate of Penns Grove Regional High School (Re-Hi) Class of 1948 Fran played football all four years and was Captain for the senior year. Was known as a good worker and everybody’s friend
    Don Bragg was the last of the great pole vaulters to use a steel pole. From 1954 until 1960, he was always world ranked and capped a brilliant career in 1960 by setting a world record of 15'-9 1/4" and winning an Olympic gold medal. He set a world indoor record of 15'-9 1/2"
    A graduate of Penns Grove Regional High School (Re-Hi) Class of 1953 Don played football all four years in addition to two years basketball and track teams
